Our Team
The Beginning
1993 was the year Ballard Natural Gas Service
was born into the Seattle metro area. Conceived to
take advantage of the expertise that Landis Kappen
had garnered over his years at Washington Natural
Gas. Thinking there was a better way Landis and his
wife Kathleen started Ballard Natural Gas Service
when Washington Natural Gas made a corporate
decision to get out of servicing customer equipment
and doing installation of HVAC equipment. They
continued to operate their new business out of the
family home for a number of years.
And
The Future
Ballard Natural Gas Service's goal is to grow
mostly through word of mouth and our clients
referrals to their family, friends, co-workers and
business associates. There is no more powerful
compliment than that of a referral of our business
to the people you care most about. We thank you in
advance for that as well. And yes there are
periodically problems that come up, it is our goal
to remedy those situations to the satisfaction of
the customer as quickly as possible.
We look forward to our best season ever here at BNGS,
we have the installers, service techs,
administration, our trucks are in good shape, and
the shop is organized, we're ready to take care of
your comfort needs.

certification means the independent Trane dealer is
of the highest standing and committed to being the

and employee training. Not every dealer qualifies as
a Trane Comfort Specialist, but rather only those
that meet Trane’s stringent standards and
demonstrate a commitment to customer satisfaction
and continuing education. These dealers are
committed to training to keep up to date with
Trane’s latest technology, ensuring that you receive
a system that is designed to achieve maximum
efficiency, reliability and comfort – and a system
that delivers the efficiency its ratings promise and
you expect.
Ballard Natural Gas Service
also has North American Technician Excellence (NATE)
certified technicians. NATE is an independent,
third-party non-profit certification which is earned
through tests which validates the technician’s
knowledge and a training program’s instruction.
Organizations that are part of the NATE coalition
include the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) and American Society of Heating, Refrigeration
and Air-Conditioning Engineers.
